Save Your Campaign Cash - You Just Sent Your Message

February 2nd, 2006

Tom Peters – best selling author and managerial GOD wrote in “Thriving On Chaos” that one of the most inefficient and stupid things that Big Business does is to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars pursuing Ethics training and printing pamphlets and hammering into it’s employee’s it’s “vision” of excellence – only to turn around and promote some assclown into management that represents none of it.

Paraphrasing Brother Tom – “Save your money Genius, you already sent your message.”

The Republicans had a chance to send a message to everyone that they weren’t the party of Brown Sludge – and turn away from the K-Street “Business As Usual” model – placing themselves in a position to be able to counter the coming the “Abramoff Offensive” in November.

Shaddeg was flawless. A 1994 Newt Gingrich Contract With America “Original Gangstah”. Not closely associated with K-Street. Not skunk-sprayed with “earmark” stank. He would have sent the exact right message that the GOP was serious about reform and wasn’t going to allow themselves to be tarred with the Abramoff brush or covered with the Enron feathers that are about to start flying.

Instead they chose John “Smokey” Boehner as the new house leader. Part of me is blown away that they were that foolish. Part of me is angry at myself for being surprised. Boehner who was forced in 1995 to apologize for handing out checks from tobacco corporations to members (as they worked) on the House floor. Boehner who has more former staffers working for lobbyists on K-Street than even Roy Blunt. Unreal.

It’s clear that the GOP’s rationalization for their decision was that they couldn’t choose Blunt because he was too obviously associated with Tom Delay and the widening scandal – so they chose “Status Quo Lite” instead of the real deal they had in Shaddeg.

Here’s a hot tip for the GOP.

The DNC won’t be captained by a raving lunatic for much longer. He’s been a public embarrassment for quite some time and now they’ve found out that Screamin’ Howie has spent all their money on magic beans – and they’ve no money to buy TV time.

Soon they’ll replace him.

Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll replace him with another lunatic.

But hunger makes people shrewd – and my guess is that they’ll pick a shark. Someone with a long history of out-playing the GOP. Someone who has a sharp mind and a wicked tongue and knows how to make every move hurt. Maybe someone like the out-of-work Tom Daschle or perhaps current favorite Barack Obama.

You know… someone ARTICULATE.

And if you think anyone with a lick of sense won’t be trying as hard as they can to duct tape the GOP to Abramoff, K-Street and Enron with every fiber of their existence… then… you dramatically underestimate how hungry being a Power Party for 180 years can make someone.

Any chance the GOP had of preventing that evaporated yesterday when not only did 112 of them select “Status Quo Lite” to leadership – but 109 of them actually still voted for Roy Blunt - “Status Quo” outright!

The Conservative community is being strangely quiet.

I repeat – Whistling Through The Graveyard.

Complete Radio Silence at Michelle Malkin and most other conservative blogs.

I guess “If you can’t say anything nice…”
